Savings achieved by switching to solar energy continue increasing as a result. Moreover, governments are assisting people to make the switch to solar. They have introduced a range of measures to improve solar affordability and incentives and in that way encourage the switch to solar. The move is also a positive for a cleaner, greener environment. Finally, it can assist national security because it reduces dependence on oil imports.

Household overheads have increased in the midst of the current increase in wholesale energy prices. It has been approximated that energy supplied to households account for about one-fifth of overall consumed energy. Today, an average family spends close to $2,000 a year in home utility bills.
With a little effort, energy saving is one thing we all can almost certainly do. We can start with a many inexpensive and free changes. I replaced the lights wefrequently use with compact fluorescents and I was able to reduce my utility bill. It was a massive help, but ultimately saving money on my utility bill is what I really want done.
It is unfortunate to note that a considerable amount of the energy we use in our homes just goes to waste. There just is so much wasted energy! Some of our home equipment consume energy even when they are turned off. The television, although shut off but left plugged in, consumes energy. An empty room with lights onuses energy. The refrigerator door left open consumes energy, too.
However, the most wasted energy in our homes come from our heater and air conditioning. No matter how trustworthy our heater or air conditioning is, heat or cooling can still break out through leaky walls, doors, attics and windows. A leaking and incompetent window can be to blame for about 25% of our home's energy bills. With this realization, it is apparent that some home improvements are in order to make our homes energy efficient. These improvements will not only be energy saving, they will also increase our home's comfort.
Our homes can be energy efficient by using energy-efficient windows. In the last couple of years, home windows have been the subject of a technological revolution. Now, we can have windows that can lower the loss of heat from heaters, and air leakages from air conditioning. Therefore, installing energy efficient windows not only translate to saving hard cash on my utility bill, they can also give a new design and appearance to my home. changing to an efficient window is an investment that will eventually pay for itself because these windows can reduce my utility bill by as much as 15%.
Energy efficient windows are composed of such technologies as the glazing types, frame types, operating types, low e-coatings, gas fills, and spacers, each having their own particular thermal and insulating features that enhance the overall window performance to manage and eliminate heat or cooling loss.
